Staff Selects - Bradley “The Critic” Thomas

Posted by Brad Thomas On January - 17 - 2010

phpbshjxhpm-150x150Name: Bradley Thomas

Position: Columnist/reviewer

Album of the Week: The Red Chord - Fed Through the Teeth Machine

Weekly Song Obsession: Oblivion and Crack the Skye by Mastodon. Those songs are always stuck in my head, and that album is arguably the best of the year

Movie You HAVE to see or saw this week: Avatar

Most random text message: Don’t remember, deleted all my texts this morning

Most embarrassing moment this week: Getting a shot in the ass at the doctor’s office today. Fucking migraines…

Geek Indulgence: It’s hardly a geek indulgence, but I’m super addicted to this Californication show

Funniest follower tweet: Any of the tweets Kat or someone else has posted that are quoting me. Duh!

Favorite Staff Moment: I don’t talk to my fellow staffers. I hate em all! lolz

Favorite movie of 09?: Hard to say…probably District 9 though. Didn’t the Hangover come out this year? If so, def that!

Favorite song of 09?: Probably a tie between “Dismantle the Dictator” by Revocation and “Crack the Skye” by Mastodon. Also “Night Letters” by Propagandhi

Favorite album of 09?: Converge - Axe To Fall. Hands down their best album since “Jane Doe” and one of the most powerful pieces of music I’ve heard in a long time. Although soooooooo many good albums came out this year, so it was pretty tough deciding. New Mastodon, Propagandhi, Revocation, Red Chord, BTBAM, Coalesce, Earth Crisis, God Forbid...the list goes on. A great year for metal and aggressive music in general!

Best highlight of 2009?: Going back to school and kickin ass at it, and finding an outlet for my writing

What would you like to have in the next year that you lacked this year?: Touring. I miss it :-(

Where did most of your money go this year?:
School, tickets, clothes and drugz.

Will you have someone to kiss at midnight?: Never have, I’m always just ragin’ with my boys who are like pussy repellent cuz of their rough n tough thuggishness. Fml!

New Years resolution?: To finish school, get into my career, and continue getting healthier

Staff Selects- Brad “The Critic” Thomas

Posted by Brad Thomas On December - 6 - 2009

phpbshjxhpm-150x150Name: Bradley Thomas

Position: Columnist/Reviewer/Misc. shit

Album of the Week: Divinity - The Singularity

Weekly Song Obsession: Skid Rock - A Wilhelm Scream and You Suck - Strapping Young Lad

Movie You HAVE to see or saw this week:
I saw “Harry Brown” and that shit was pretty fuckin awesome. Michael Caine is one of the BEST actors of all time.

Most random text message:
Some random dude accidentally texting me weird videos of roast-beef-looking vaginas talking to me and messages saying “tell your girlfriend to stop talking to me!” with more pictures of roast beef vagines. His “signature” on each text was “Luv 2 B Hated!”  I imagine him being quite the weirdo.

Most embarrassing moment of the week: Ummm idk. Leaving my new cell phone in the bathroom next to the pharmacy I intern at. Fortunately some nice old guy found it and turned it in, otherwise I woulda been fucked outta a brand new amazing phone.

Geek Indulgence: I wouldn’t exactly call it a “geek” indulgence, but I am fucking OBSESSED with Sons of Anarchy. That season finale was the most intense bit of television all season. Shit, maybe of the past TWO seasons. Dexter and Breaking Bad are both gonna have to step up their games to match the quality of SOA now (and that’s sayin somethin, cuz both those shows are awesome, high quality bits of entertainment).

Funniest follower tweet: No idea, I haven’t tweeted much this week.

Favorite Staff Moment: Pretty much any convo with Kat. It’s awesome being close friends with someone you also work with.

Did you go Black Friday shopping?:
Fuck no. I wait for the after-whack-friday sales. Sure they aren’t as good, but my anxiety can’t handle those crowds, even WITH my xanax prescription, nor do I have the patience to deal with that many fucking retards.

When and how did you find out Santa wasn’t real?: I’ve always known he wasn’t real as my parents were pretty strict Christians so I was raised as such growing up (they’ve both become a lot more….liberal, over the years, thank God).

What Christmas gift ever made you go “what the fuck?”: Nothing in recent memory. My family is poor so we don’t waste money on “what the fuck”-type presents.

Holidays yay or nay?: Fuck yea holidays! All those whiney little babies who hate on holidays cuz they don’t have good family lives, or because they’re ultra liberal and hate what the holidays “stand for,” or they just want an excuse to hate on something, can all suck it.

Thanksgiving vs. Christmas: Christmas. As much as both holidays are about family to me, Christmas is even more-so, and always seems to bring my fucked up family a bit closer every year.

Darts and Laurels:

Dart to whoever thought of this goofy ass idea (Editor’s Note: It was mine asshole haha.)
Laurel to whoever created the bartender application. So many awesome drink recipes I know how to make now! Thx br0!

Posted by Brad Thomas On October - 17 - 2009

phpbshjxhpmName: Bradley Thomas

Position: The Critic

Album of the Week: Steel Nation – Forever Wounded

Song Obsession: Coalesce – Wild Ox Moan (the bluesy intro into chaotic insanity is amazing. If you haven’t heard this band, you need to educate yourself!)

Movie You HAVE to see or saw: Surrogates. Creepy as fuck, and well-done.

Favorite article of clothing: Haven’t gotten any new clothes this week! Although I plan on buying a new Raiders hat.

Most random text message this week:
T-Mobile is a piece of shit so I’ve barely been getting text messages

Most embarrassing moment this week: Nothing embarrassing so far, surprisingly. I can be quite clumsy.

Geek Indulgence: Fringe

Funniest follower tweet: Sloren Assley’s goofy ass “Fairy Brad” tweets

Favorite Staff Moment: Making fun of Lauren and her excellent decision-making abilities. Talking about good hardcore with Justin YPA. Me and Kat’s usual random and ridiculous conversation topics.

What do you plan on being for Halloween? Billy Mays (RIP) hahaha I could pull it off very well, methinks

What’s your favorite(s) scary movie? The Shining, The Descent, the Japanese OG versions of The Ring, the list goes on….

Who are you most like? Jason or Freddy? Freddy. I’m much more on the psychological tip

What do you do when you’re not working? School, gym, watching way too much tv, and ragin’ like a muthafucka!

Posted by Brad Thomas On October - 10 - 2009

stocktonshowName: Bradley Thomas

Position: The Critic

Album of the Week: Converge - Axe to Fall (album of the year, more like it!)

Song Obsession: “Dismantle the Dictator” - Revocation. Best metal band in years, and the jazzy lead-into-bluesy-solo part is straight up reminiscent of Dimebag Darrell. Gets me air guitaring every time!

Movie You HAVE to see or saw:
Zombieland. Best horror movie of the year, and possibly best comedy of the year. I really wanna see Law-Abiding Citizen as well. Gerard Butler is a boss.

Favorite article of clothing: My new BDM shirt I suppose

Most random text message this week: “Lemme see that dick!” - my boy Luis, shortly after bragging about how hot his new gf is

Most embarrassing moment this week: Tripping over some uneven pavement at school and almost eatin shit. Me=poor balance

Geek Indulgence: Finished re-watching all the seasons so far of Lost

Funniest follower tweet:

@RyanLikesGarlic: I wish I was bigger, hairier, and balding so I could be Billy Mays for Halloween. What up @strongerthanall

Favorite Staff Moment:
Talking about “fuck puppets” with Lauren and ghost stories with Kat

Comments: Insert cool/interesting/witty sentence that I’m too tired to think of here
