We picked Joe Strummer as our icon for a reason. In 1977, England saw the rise of corporate greed, an oppressive government, and extreme polarization of the economy. Joe Strummer and the rest of The Clash were the children of diplomats and displaced parents. A loud and educated voice in the sea of chaos, the Clash went on to enlighten a whole generation. From this we gather a great deal of inspiration for the site.

Most of my life I grew up in the small college town of Gainesville, Florida. A small little dab of blue in a sea of red counties. Like most here, I attended public school. Educated alongside the sons and daughters of the upper middle class of all ethnic backgrounds.  Throughout the education I received I was told one thing; “If you do well, you’ll achieve.” No matter what color or socioeconomic background you were from.

We believed it too. Toiling grade after grade, test after test, striving to get a better score than the next student. Some didn’t care, but for those who did, hours were spent behind books and accumulating knowledge. We were the over achievers. The ones who spent nights watching the evening news and following politics.

Getting into college we excelled, writing papers and cramming for exams, forgoing parties to attend study groups. We had our fun, but just enough to keep us in touch with the real world. We knew that upon graduating this place of higher learning, we would be unleashed upon the world. Equipped with the tools to make it a better place.

Then it all came crashing to a halt.  We walked down that aisle and were handed the diploma only to find out we were on our own. The world greeted the young minds of America with an ailing economy and a two front war. Slapped in the face by Bush’s economic policies, and a shortage of jobs.

Here we are now, a generation of graduates in waiting. Our future in limbo as we either attend more school, or take substandard jobs. We’re angry that we were lied to and dupped by a man we all knew we were smarter than. Angry that the American dream was sold overseas. Furious that our friends are dying in a war we should never have been involved with.  Livid that we can no longer afford to get sick, and that if we do, the bills will be sure to kill us first.

This site is not the solution. You are.  We’re here to facilitate that solution. We’re committed to bringing you news, unique interviews with people in the world of politics and entertainment, and a open door policy. Never again be Left, without knowledge.

Please enjoy and comment often,

You may want to re-edit this post. It’s rife with errors. I do like the sentiment behind it though. And I like your site.

  2. admin says:

We appreciate the sentiment and will have our editorial staff go back through and check it, thanks for letting us know. You want a job? ;-)

  3. Jesseca says:

Well, I do have a degree in journalism and I’ve always been a stickler for proper grammar spelling and punctuation. Shall I send my clips and resume? ;)

  4. admin says:

We would love to take a look at it. Send it to youngpoorandangry@gmail.com and we’ll have someone on staff get back to you ASAP.
